Embryonics’ Professional Foot Trimming course is NACFT recognised and LANTRA approved. It is highly sought after within the farming and veterinary industries alike.
This is a 4-day course suitable for those new to trimming and the more experienced alike. It’s a healthy mix of theory and practical which is the premier route to becoming a Fully Licensed Foot Trimmer using the 5-Step Dutch Method. The Dutch Diploma is the most successful tried and tested method of trimming to-date. Reduction in lameness incidence within the herd has been attributed to the performance of the 5-step. Embryonics is the only UK training establishment to offer the Dutch Diploma, which is fully recognised by all authorising bodies.
- Anatomy of the hoof
- Identify diseases (sole ulcer, white line separation & abscess, digital dermatitis, foul in the foot, slurry heel, inter-digital growth, toe necrosis) and how to prevent and treat them
- Safe use of tools and equipment including grinders
- Recognise lameness and grade severity
- Key anatomical & physiological principles
- Blocking and bandaging
